For most of his working life, the founder of Everwarm Companions lived the life that many adult children will recognise. Long hours, long commutes, and a home that was never quite as close to his parents as he wished it could be.
When his father died, something shifted. Not just the grief, which was expected. It was the particular, quiet ache of watching his mother face daily life without the person she had shared it with for decades. She was safe. She was looked after in the practical sense. But she was lonely.
Phone calls helped. Video calls helped. But they were never quite enough. What he wished for was a trusted, familiar person who could be physically present with his mother for a few hours each week. Someone who would sit with her, talk with her, listen without rushing, share a cup of tea, flick through old photos, and simply be there. Someone the family knew and trusted. Someone who would come back next week, and the week after that.
That person did not exist in any structured, professional form he could find. Carers provided care. Neighbours provided kindness. But nobody provided consistent, purposeful, warm companionship as a proper service, built around the individual, backed by safeguarding, and with a family update after every visit.
So he built it.

Every companion holds an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service certificate, the highest level of criminal record check available in the UK.
We interview every companion in person. We look for warmth, reliability, empathy, and genuine commitment, qualities that no form can capture.
We contact and verify references directly, including previous employers or voluntary roles. We do not accept references at face value.
Every companion is fully insured for public liability. You and your loved one are protected on every visit.
We conduct regular check-ins with families and clients to ensure our standard is maintained visit after visit. We do not set and forget.
All companions complete safeguarding awareness training and are clear on the boundaries of companionship versus regulated personal care.
